Practice

Nagan Johnson Architects, RIBA-chartered multidisciplinary architecture practice, was founded in 1999 by Architect Michael Johnson and Landscape Designer Deborah Nagan

Our studio is situated in Waterloo, SE1 where the team design buildings, interiors and landscape projects in the UK, Europe and North America. We have a wide variety of clients, both private and corporate and our project expertise is in housing, restaurants, hotels, artists’ studios, galleries and individual homes.

Rather than forging a house style, our approach is to create unique spaces often within historic and physically challenging sites, both as new build and amendments to existing buildings. We aim to embed our buildings in their local context but to ensure it is recognised as contemporary and sustainable. By considered detailing, new ways are found to use both modern and traditional materials.

People

As an architectural practice with a closely-knit team of designers, we take a nimble approach to challenging programmes and sites. The team retains an efficient, solid grasp on design development and project coordination as well as fostering a friendly internal critique of work. By being flexible and innovative, we can find responsive, often surprising, design solutions.
